Barack Obama has expressed his heartfelt condolences over the Pele

Barack Obama stated that Pele is one of the greatest and most recognize athletes in the history of Football 

Edson Arantes do Nascimento better known as Pele is one of the greatest players of all time and labelled "the greatest" by FIFA, he was among the most successful and popular sports figures of the 20th century. In 1999, he was named Athlete of the Century by the International Olympic Committee. He was included in the Time list of the 100 most important people of the 20th century In 2000, Pele was voted World Player of the Century by the International Federation of Football History Statistics (IFFHS) 

In a statement Barack Obama released: "Pele was one of the greatest to ever play the beautiful game. And as one of the most recognizable athletes in the world, he understood the power of sports to bring people together. Our thoughts are with his family and everyone who loved and admired him.
