Nigerian businessman and philanthropist Tony Elumelu has called on FIFA to improve the standard of refereeing at the FIFA World Cup, warning that poor officiating could have a negative impact on the sport
In a statement, Elumelu said the quality of officiating must be raised to protect the integrity of football and ensure fairness in matches
Tony Elumelu statement reads: "Well done to all the African countries that represented our continent at the World Cup. You made Africa proud and showed the world what African football is capable of.
"But @FIFAWorldCup needs to improve the standard of refereeing because if poor officiating continues, it will damage the game. Congratulations once again to every African team.
